Americans are easy to get along with, you just have to understand some cultural differences. Americans first and foremost have respect for people who are the best. If you are the best in something, Americans will respect your talent over your skin color and ethnicity.
미국인들은 일단 친해지기 쉽기 때문에 몇 가지 문화차이만 이해한다면 괜찮을 거 에요. 미국인들은 무엇보다 어떤 분야에서 최고인 사람의 재능을 피부색이나 국적에 상관없이 존중해요.

So for example, if you are great at playing soccer and you do that well in America, you will fit in with Americans like chicken and beer.

Showing off in American culture is okay, as long as you are sharing some of your secrets of success.
너무 거만하지 않고 자신의 성공의 비결을 다른 사람들과 공유하는 한, 미국 문화에서 ‘자랑’은 괜찮아요.

So if you are really talented in soccer and you score 3 goals. After the game, show your teammates the specific drills you do that make you so fast. Something like that.
만약에 제가 축구를 잘해서 게임에서 3골을 넣었다면 다른 팀원들에게 저 만의 골 넣는 비결을 알려주는 거죠.

People won’t be jealous or envious of you if you show off?
근데 다른 사람들이 부러워하거나 질투하지 않을까요?

Maybe a little but as long as you are sharing information that can help them, they will appreciate your help, like you as a person and give you a lot of respect. You will fit in.
물론 그럴 수도 있겠지만 정보를 공유해서 사람들에게 도움이 된다면 오히려 고마워하고 더 존중해줄 거 에요. 잘 어울릴 거 에요.

Often times Koreans are amazing at something but they are either humble or they don’t have confidence in their ability. Where Americans are not very good but they have so much confidence.
